Renee Mcareavy, OTR/L

A desire to help people and a passion for creativity and science led me to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy. I graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in 2005 and began the first four years of my OT career in pediatrics before transitioning, and remaining, in adult rehabilitation. Prior to pursuing a career in occupational therapy, I worked in the dental field for 9 years.  In 2023, I was introduced to orofacial myofunctional therapy…and I was absolutely intrigued. That intrigue led to a deep interest and desire to learn more, ultimately completing the courses necessary to become a myofunctional therapy provider.

I believe my education and experience as an OT, in addition to my dental knowledge, enhances my approach to the treatment of myofunctional disorders. I look forward to spreading awareness, impowering through knowledge and providing individualized treatment to improve quality of life! And I am so excited to be achieving this vision with my colleague, Natalie!

By focusing on the connection between the oral and facial muscles, airway health, sleep quality, and nervous system regulation, I found myself returning to what I loved most about occupational therapy – helping people build healthy, sustainable habits and implement strategies that support lifelong wellbeing. In addition to specializing in direct clinical care for orofacial myofunctional therapy, I offer innovative consultative services to support occupational wellness and prevention across the life span.  Please visit the Everyday Matters / Occupational Wellness page for more details about these services.
